Jennifer Chen is an author and award-winning freelance journalist who has written for Today, *New York Times*, Oprah Daily, and *Real Simple*. Her latest novel, *Hangry Hearts*, is out now. It’s a funny, big-hearted romance about friendship, family, and first love—and being brave enough to have it all. The novel sets a Romeo & Juliet-inspired romance at a Southern California farmers’ market and features lots of Lunar New Year cuisine.

In this episode, I talk to Jennifer about how she got the idea for the book at a farmers’ market, the important role food plays in the book, and more.
