The Internet's Favorite Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe with Maya Kosoff
These cookies - and the surprisingly simple recipe - go viral every Fall
Welcome to Couch Potato Cook, a podcast that blends two of my favorite things: food and pop culture.
Today, my guest is Maya Kosoff.

You’ve likely come across a viral pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe somewhere on Instagram or Substack. Usually, you’ll see a name tagged in the post: Maya Kosoff. Many people even call them “The Maya Kosoff Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.” But Maya herself says this isn’t her recipe per se, but she’s happy to spread the word.
In this podcast’s very first episode, I talk to Maya Kosoff about this incredible pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe, a delicious cakey cookie, a viral sensation and an enduring recipe that people just love to make.
Maya is a former journalist and the CEO and co-owner of 18 Olives, an editorial consultancy based in New York City with a great food name.
Note: This episode was recorded before Election Day 2024 😞. Since then, I stress-baked the cookies and brought them to the USC Annenberg Media Center again for another set of students. I didn’t record their reaction, but it’s safe to say they were a hit.

The Recipe
Highly recommend following the recipe at Easy Gay Oven. Eric King, a much better cook than me, notes certain key adjustments to the recipe.
